I'm Lance Como and over the past 38 years I've spent thousands of hours restoring my boats and becoming an expert in the craft. The first was a 1960 Owens 32 Sea-Skiff Express Cruiser. A true learning experience that one was, a dozen planks, the chine, teak deck seams, brightwork, electrical, and just about everything in between. Then came a 1961 Chris-Craft Constellation 50 Flush Deck, big boat and where I really learned about window channels. I lived on it for 5 years... wonderful.
My most current project is the restoration of a 1972 Grand Banks 32 Classic woodie. Over the past three years (less the Minnesota winters) we've gone over just about every square inch of the boat looking for problems and ultimately repairing them. New aft bulkhead, new aluminum fuel tanks, a few planks replaced and some refastened, new window channels, stripped all wood to bare, and the list goes on and on.
The goal is to have her ready for a spring 2017 launch and continue refitting through the summer in prepartion for The Great Loop. Well maybe not the whole loop as the idea is to have Minnesota winters a thing of the past. Florida for the winter and at this point, New Bern, NC for the summers.
We aim to have a couple dozen clients who need the experience we offer in boat repair and maintenance and will do our level best to help them preserve their investment and be able to spend more time enjoying an on the water experience.
